Job Description

The Project HSE Manager oversees all health, safety, and environment (EHS) functions for the project, following the Orion Project Governance Plan (PGP), Project Execution Plan (PEP), and Project Execution System (PES) as guided by the Project Manager. 
The Project HSE Manager will develop and lead measures for in-depth site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to spot hazards early. They will spearhead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and accidents, using root-cause analysis and clear corrective actions. They will also design and deliver training on safe work practices, emergency response, PPE use, and behavioral safety.

General role responsibilities:

  • HSE Advisor to the Project team on all related HSE requirements..

  • Appointments
  • Reporting
  • Auditing
  • Records
  • Inspections
  • Administer all safety communication across the project site:
  • HSE awareness
  • Daily progress and performance (HSE
  • HSE notice boards
  • HSE reporting within progress reports – daily, weekly, monthly, etc
  • Proactive HSE initiatives/focus areas/practices
  • Develop and administer the safe work method statements within all work packs.

Minimum Requirements
:
  • Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or Mining Engineering.
  • Certifications like SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, MHSA Legal Liability, or ISO 45001/14001 training.
  • Certification/accreditation in HSE auditing will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), OHS regulations
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office


Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years' experience in a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) role within an engineering construction or mining environment.
  • At least five years serving as a project HSE manager on a major construction project.
  • Proven track record of delivering significant project packages with outstanding safety performance in a zero-harm workplace.
